My contribution to the KPI for The Nest Project

Updated: Nov 23, 2019

The Nest Project is a project to create intentional learning spaces inside public, low-cost housing units conducted by Taylor's University in-collaboration with the Ministry of Housing & Local Government and Real Estate & Housing Developers' Association (REHDA) Malaysia. The purpose of this project is twofold; firstly, to create an in-house learning space in 12 houses in PPR Lembah Subang 2 where children can study and do homework comfortably after school-hours; and secondly, to raise awareness on the importance of having a designated learning space which is safe and comfortable in a house, making everyone feel socially included.

For this project called “The Nest Project”, I work under the marketing and sponsorship department where I deal with promotional strategies and sponsorship arrangements for the event. For the marketing side of my department, I plan out the marketing strategies and implement the actions for the event which requires me to produce and design the promotional and collaterals materials such as the event proposal, media kits and social media posts which will be distributed to the public. This is to establish a higher brand awareness for the event. For the sponsorship side of my department, I seek for potential sponsors to raise funds for the events expenditure includes sending out emails to potential sponsors regarding what our event has to offer to their company. Other than that, I also create sponsorship packages to be sent out to potential sponsors which includes meeting up with sponsors and negotiating the types of benefits we can offer them in return of financial support to the event.

The first key performance indicator (KPI) for “The Nest Project” is to garner a minimum of 200 attendees for the launch and exhibition. If the event manage to gather more than the expected amount of attendees, this project will be considered as a successful event. This also means that the strategies and tactics implemented for the event was effective enough to reach a wide range of audiences and exciting enough to get people to actually attend.

The next KPI for the event is to garner a total of 500 followers on the official “The Nest Project” Instagram account. Social media engagement plays a crucial role in the success of the event. Therefore, if the Instagram account manage to achieve the targeted amount of followers, this means that the type and design of pictures and videos posted on the official social media account was attractive enough to keep our targeted audience keen about the event.

Other than that, the event aims to generate a minimum of RM15,000 of monetary sponsorships. Because sponsors are largely responsible for the financial backing of the event, the event would need to have more sponsorship partners to fund the event expenditures. Hence, the benefits offered in the sponsorship package must be appealing enough for companies to actually sponsor a higher amount of money. My role to convince them to release funds for our event is essential as it would determine the success of the event.
